(If this isn't okay to ask please let me know or delete, I wasn't sure.)

What do you all do for your portfolio web sites? I am a long-time web developer and so I have used Wordpress and a bunch of CSS to come up with something that seems okay but it's also not very inspiring or interactive:

Is there a better platform for showcasing work? Obviously 1x is a great place but I'm thinking someplace that I have a tiny bit more control over what is shown.

Any thoughts or feedback on the current site are greatly appreciated.

Eric,

I can't offer advice on portfolio websites.  I did build one of my own years ago - but it was amatuerish and awkward.  At 1X it used to be possible for a member to put photos of their own choice in their personal gallery.    That changed a few years back when the site was 'new and improved', and now the only photos visible to other members are the ones that get Published or Awarded.    The old galleries can still be edited, but no one will see them unless they're given the URL.

I had a quick look at your website.  Thank you for the link.  The photos are very good, but they took a long time to load after I clicked on them - about half a minute each.  A right click and 'save as' gave access to a full size file - so if you're concerned about people downloading your work in full resolution you might have to block that somehow.  That's not a criticism of the website - just a friendly 'heads-up'.

Steven thanks. Yeah I have full sized images up there and I sometimes forget that not everyone has gigabit Internet. I have a solution for that tho so will put it in place. Out of curiosity, what type of Interenet connection do you have?

Eric,

You asked what kind of internet connection I have.  I honestly don't know, but I don't think it's just 'standard' - we don't pay extra for gigabit or high speed.  Most photos load pretty quickly, though, almost instantaneously.  The blue car photo (Aston Martin?) is a 40mb file.  I downloaded it just long enough to check the file size - I won't keep it.  What I didn't notice the first time was that when I clicked on one photo, three of them opened - so the 30 seconds was for three large photos to open.  Worth waiting for - very good photos of a beautiful car.
