This little diptych is a critical view on how we fill our landscapes with banality.

On top is a new housing complex very close to a beautiful abbey, the bottom photo is an industrial estate (not yet finished) a few kilometers further up.

I was struck by the similar approach of organised mass building, by the repetitive patterns in both projects and by the overall lack of phantasy.

I don't normally take photographs of buildings but I'd like to share this image of the old Gaiety Theatre on Tasmania's West Coast. It's basically just a mug shot but the linear framing, pastel colours and dancing clouds give the image a slightly surreal edge that (to my mind) hints at the building's fantastical raison d'etre.
